As recently reported, Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao, 37, and his wife Summer Lin, 51, held a wedding banquet on Oct 13, attended by 600 guests.

Shortly after the initial report, another story emerged from the grand event held at the Taipei Marriott Hotel – this one involving the speech made by Hsiao's dad.

Apparently during his speech, Hsiao’s father expressed his desire to become a grandfather.

According to reports, he said: “Your father is getting old. You should have a son. You must have hope.”

While the couple found his comment amusing, netizens didn’t share the same sentiment.

Many pointed out the significant risks involved for both the baby and the mother when an older woman becomes pregnant.

Some suggested adoption or surrogacy as alternatives.

Others highlighted how the older generation's desire for grandchildren can place pressure on couples.

“Talking about having kids at 50 is awkward," a netizen wrote.

The newlyweds had reportedly discussed this issue prior to the wedding.

Lin was quoted saying: "For us, whether we have kids or not would be out of love. But ultimately, it’s a choice, not a mission. Please don’t worry about us."
