Hong Kong actor Chun Wong has opened up about his financial struggles following the expiration of his TVB contract.

In a recent interview with HK01, Wong said he had to apply for the Comprehensive Social Security Assistance (CSSA) Scheme to cover medical fees and essential needs.

His financial distress worsened after forking out over HK$3mil (RM1.8mil) and selling his property in Hong Kong to help his daughter pay off her debts.

“I helped pay over HK$10,000 (RM6,025) each month, totalling hundreds of thousands over 10 years.

“If it weren’t for helping repay the debt, I wouldn’t have sold my house in Hong Kong,” the 76-year-old said.

Despite his support, Wong’s eldest daughter “disappeared” after declaring bankruptcy. His three other children were also unable to get in contact with her.

The Condor Heroes actor said: “I helped her repay so much but was left with nothing in the end. All the burden is on me. I have nothing left, not even savings.”

Wong once revealed that he has a strained relationship with his four children, whom he shares with his estranged wife Mo Peiwen.

According to reports, Wong’s relationship with his children became strained after he had an affair with a woman 30 years his junior.

However, it seems that things are slowly turning for the better as his three other children visit him now.

Wong previously disclosed that Mo had filed for divorce six times, though he rejected each attempt.

The estranged couple has been living separately since then.

It's reported that Wong had been living alone in a hotel in recent years but was moved to a nursing home after suffering a fall earlier in March.
