Fantasy author Neil Gaiman is writing off Elon Musk.

Gaiman shaded the Tesla and SpaceX honcho on Twitter Tuesday (Sept 6) after one user found it “crazy” that Musk, 51, doesn’t like Amazon’s new The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power series and asked the British author and screenwriter for his take.

“Elon Musk doesn’t come to me for advice on how to fail to buy Twitter, and I don’t go to him for film, TV or literature criticism,” quipped Gaiman, 61.

Gaiman, who is best known for works including The Sandman, Coraline, American Gods, and Stardust, was referencing Musk’s attempt to purchase the social media giant, a plan which was first reported in late April.

At the time, the controversial billionaire not only announced he would purchase the platform for nearly US$44bil (RM198bil), but vowed to make it “better than ever” – in part “by enhancing the product with new features”.

Musk tweeted Monday that Lord Of The Rings and The Hobbit author J.R.R. Tolkien was “turning in his grave” as a result of the new show, The Rings Of Power.

“Almost every male character so far is a coward, a jerk or both,” he said. “Only Galadriel is brave, smart and nice.”

The fantasy prequel hit Amazon at the start of the month. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
