Chinese actor Song Ningfeng, who is married to non-celebrity Zhang Wanting, has publicly admitted to having an affair.
His confession follows the leak of audio recordings and chat logs alleging an extramarital relationship that began in 2025 and lasted for over a year.
In a lengthy statement on April 1, Song apologised to Zhang not only for his infidelity but also for neglecting and failing to recognise her discomfort.
The 45-year-old also expressed remorse toward his five-year-old daughter Anna, acknowledging the harm caused by the scandal.
Although Song denied rumours that he had an intimate encounter with his mistress – only known as Ms Q – while Anna was nearby, he said he has failed as a father regardless.
“You were sleeping in another room at the time, you didn’t see or hear anything.
“But regardless of whether you were present, my actions were the greatest failure a father could commit. I will never forgive myself. I don’t deserve to be your dad,” he wrote.
Song also apologised to Ms Q, admitting that he had deceived her by hiding his marital status, making promises he couldn’t keep and accusing her of destroying his family.
“These statements show my most selfish and cowardly side. I was the one who lied and pursued her,” he wrote.
Song said he doesn’t expect forgiveness and will take responsibility for his actions, writing: “I’ll always carry this shame with me.”
The actor also announced his indefinite suspension of work, adding that he will seek help from a psychologist and fully cooperate with any decisions his wife might make next.
Song and Zhang made headlines as a couple in 2022 after joining the second season of See You Again – a show where romantic partners work through their conflicts.
He was previously married to actress Qi Xi from 2012 to 2019.
