With TikTok becoming one of the most popular platforms in recent years, it is no surprise that even celebrities have joined in the fun by in making skits and doing dances, much to the delight of their fans.
Dolly Parton fans were thrilled when she seemingly joined the platform under the username @ItsDollyParton on September 26. Its first post featured the 75-year-old American singer, wearing a yellow top and patterned pants, welcoming her fans in a short video. "Why hello! I guess I'm on TikTok! I just dropped in to say that everything's gonna be okay, you keep the faith," she said with a greeting smile.
The account gained approximately 680,000 followers shortly after its debut as fans filled the comments with their love and excitement. The Fault In Our Stars author John Green was one of the fans who left a comment welcoming her to the platform.
However, in a shocking turn of events, the account was later banned due to violations with the Community Guidelines, after the video had already received more than 5 million likes.
It was later revealed that it was not the 9 to 5 singer herself who had created the account, but someone who had convincingly pretended to be the star. Fans also later discovered that the video was from 2020, and was originally recorded to promote Parton's Imagination Library children's literacy non-profit.
At the time of writing, there Parton has not indicated any plans officially launch a TikTok account, but if she did, we have no doubt that it would be a hit, especially since her Instagram already has 4.4 million existing followers.
