Former After School member Park Soo-young, or more popularly known as Lizzy, has been sentenced to one year in prison for drunk driving by a Seoul District Court on Monday (Sept 27).

In May where the artiste was arrested by the Seoul Gangnam Police Department for driving while under the influence of alcohol and causing a traffic accident. Lizzy had hit a taxi but thankfully there were no casualties.

Upon their arrival, police discovered that her blood alcohol levels based on the screening test were higher than the 0.08% legal limit and even deemed enough to have her license revoked.

The 29-year-old went live on Instagram on Sept 14 to issue an apology to all her fans for her mistake and said that she felt her life was over.

"Everyone goes through a hard time at some point in their lives. People are telling me to take my own life in regards to the situation. I know I made a mistake and I know I was in the wrong. I'm sorry," she said, crying. She also shared that it has been frustrating as the media have been providing inaccurate information regarding the incident, such as reporting that she had severely injured the taxi driver.

After the court's verdict, Lizzy admitted to her faults and acknowledged the charges. “I generally think badly about drunk driving and reported it, but I committed a crime with poor judgment. I will no longer disappoint anyone. I’m scared of myself, but it’s even scarier to come here for a trial," she admitted in her final statement.
