Taiwanese star Mike He came under fire for allegedly implying that he would prefer that his wife undergo an abortion if he found out his third child was not a boy.
The interview that was held back in 2020 by Taiwan's NowNews channel had recently resurfaced and outraged netizens who were quick to call out the 37-year-old for his previous remark.
During the time of the interview, He and his wife had just welcomed their second daughter into the family.
When asked about his plans on having a third child, the Devil Beside You actor expressed that they would love to do so in the next year or two as he preferred for the children to have a small age gap.
His questionable statement came after that when he said: "I'll confirm if it is a son before my wife gives birth."
"If tests reveal that it is a girl, I may not want the birth," he continued, explaining that it is possible to know the gender of the child at the seven to eight weeks mark of the mother's pregnancy.
The Taiwanese actor received many hate comments accusing him of being inconsiderate to his wife and having an outdated mindset.
He attempted to clear the air with a post on Weibo, on Sept 26, where he also issued an apology.
"I'm grateful to my wife for giving birth to two daughters... my wife and I really hope to have both sons and daughters, with the two girls also hoping to have a younger brother. It will be good if it is a boy, but boys and girls are definitely equal.
"I love my family and my two daughters, and am spending most of my time now accompanying them in their growing-up years. I apologise again for my inappropriate comments," he wrote
This is not the first time He had been slammed for making unseemly comment.
In September last year, he disclosed that he had asked his wife to undergo a Caesarean section for their second daughter's birth as he did not want the baby to be born under the Virgo star sign.
