Malaysian actor Nadhir Nasar is experiencing a new type of fame thanks to netizens comparing him to a character in the hit K-drama Squid Game.
Nadhir, whose full name is Ahmad Nadhir Ahmad Nasar, is said to resemble player number 067 that’s portrayed by model-actress Jung Ho-yeon in the Netflix series.
That’s right – a female character.
In a report by mStar – The Star’s Malay-language portal – Nadhir admitted that he saw the TikTok video pointing out the resemblance between him and Jung’s character.
“If people can see the similarities, I guess it must be there,” he said.
The 24-year-old further figures netizens think they look alike due to their face shape, the messy hairstyle and perhaps their unsmiling features.
But not everyone is convinced though – some netizens took to Twitter to post harsh comments on the comparison between Jung and Nadhir.
“I did see a number of negative comments, stating that I am not the same 'level' as Jung Ho-yeon and the comparison is uncalled for,” said the Projek Anchor SPM actor.
Whether it’s true or not true, the Hero Remaja 2020 winner has decided to just let it be and not make a big deal out of it.
In Squid Game, Kang Sae-byeok (Jung) is a character who is too busy trying to make extra money to care about how she looks – hence her appearance is far from best.
