British actress Tanya Fear, who was reported missing last week, has been found safe, police say.
"We were notified by our missing persons unit that she's been located, safe. No criminal report has been completed as there was no criminal activity surrounding her time when she was missing, and her family has been notified," Los Angeles Police Department detective Meghan Aguilar confirmed on Monday (Sept 13).
A missing persons report was completed for the actress, whose full name is Tanyaradzwa Fear, on Thursday (Sept 9), according to Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Jader Chaves.
A press release from her family on social media alleged Fear, 31, left her home Thursday without her cell phone or purse, and was later reported missing by a friend.
"After Tanya's family in the UK contacted the UK Foreign Office, a local LAPD police officer was deployed to visit Tanya's house but the actor was not home. She was last seen by friends on Thursday 9 September 2021," the statement said, adding that Fear has been living in Los Angeles "for 6 years on and off."
In the same statement, Fear's mother Yvonne Marimo pleaded to "anyone with information to please come forward to bring our daughter home safely."
Fans and friends have been raising awareness about Fear's disappearance with the hashtag #FindTanyaFear. Author Bolu Babalola also shared a missing poster for Fear on Twitter, writing: "My friend Tanya has gone missing in the LA/Hollywood Bowl area. She hasn't been seen since 9th September 2021."
Fear is best known for her portrayal as Dr Jane McIntyre in a 2018 episode of Doctor Who, a popular sci-fi series airing on BBC.
She also starred as Nina in the 2016 film A Moving Image and Harlow in 2013's Kick-Ass 2, along with more recent British TV shows such as Endeavour in 2018 and Cleaning Up in 2019.
The British star moved to Los Angeles to "further her career in acting, screen writing and comedy in Los Angeles," according to the release. – USA Today/Tribune News Service
