Malaysian singer Gadaffi Ismail, or better known as Dafi in the music scene, couldn't be prouder of his father Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob who has been appointed as the country's ninth prime minister.
The 33-year-old singer is certain that his father is up to the task and will do a great job.
"I am speaking as a normal Malaysian. When there's a new leadership, what we want is for him to do the best for the nation, and I am confident papa will do his utmost best," Dafi tells mStar, The Star's Malay-language portal.
"Personally, I have always seen him work hard. His success is because of all the hard work he has put in right from the start.
"My family and I know that he is a good father. And just like he is a good father, he will be a good leader ... he only wants the best for the rakyat. He has struggled in the past and that is why he doesn't want to see others struggle," Dafi continued.
The singer, who was a contestant in Season Five of the popular talent show Akademi Fantasia, knows that moving forward, he will be scrutinised more with the appointment of his father as prime minister.
Dafi said ever since he was young, his father has taught him to remain positive when facing criticisms and haters.
"In life, not everyone will like you, just as you won't like everyone either.
"Whatever criticism that comes my way, I will remain positive because everyone is entitled to their own opinions," he told mStar.
Earlier today, Comptroller of the Royal Household for Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has decreed the appointment of Ismail Sabri as the ninth Prime Minister, following the special meeting involving the Malay Rulers on Friday (Aug 20) afternoon.
The swearing-in ceremony for Ismail Sabri as Prime Minister will take place tomorrow (Aug 21) at 2.30pm at Istana Negara.
