Datuk Afdlin Shauki has tried his hands at just about everything within the showbiz industry – acting, comedy, directing, producing, screenwriting, singing and songwriting.

The 49-year-old is now considering a career in politics, telling Harian Metro: "I've thought about it (joining politics). Since I've done a lot of humanitarian aid work, my friends have asked if I want to join politics.

"They say that by joining politics, I will get to help people on an even bigger scale."

The Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd actor adds he would like to be a representative of the arts in the political arena so that the interests of the local arts industry will be taken into account.

"I'm not saying I can't do that without entering politics. But this may be the most effective and beneficial way.

"As art practitioners, we experience firsthand everything that goes on at the top and at the bottom. So we understand what the issues are and what needs fixing."
