In an effort to raise awareness about the fact that men can be victims of sexual harassment too, local actor Hafreez Adam shared his own encounter in an Instagram post on Jan 26.
Hafreez recalled feeling uncomfortable while working on set with a female co-worker in the past.
"She liked grabbing my a** and chest. I was stunned when it first happened," he wrote.
"I know she meant it as a joke. But the problem was, it's my body and I'm not comfortable with people touching me in those areas. "
The 30-year-old actor added the incident happened multiple times.
"I've told her, 'please don't. I don't like it.' But she continued doing it. Because for her, it was just a joke.
"It was also my fault for not being more firm (in saying no)."
Prior to the sharing, the 30-year-old actor highlighted the fact that sexual harassment faced by men aren't taken as seriously.
He conducted an informal survey on his Instagram Stories, asking "if a man pats a woman's buttocks, although he does it as a joke, what do you view that as?"
Most of his followers answered,"sexual harassment."
He then asked: "What if it was a woman who did the same thing to a man?"
Most of his followers responded it would be inappropriate too but didn't deem it as sexual harassment.
Hafreez told his followers: "It counts as sexual harassment too. It doesn't matter if you're a man or a woman and you're doing it to another man or woman."
