Fresh off her win on the Mainland China reality competition, Everybody Stand By, last month, one may assume that Hong Kong actress Myolie Wu would be inundated with acting offers.
Everybody Stand By is a competition where established actors including Vicki Zhao compete to be named "Best Performer" by famed directors through a series of tasks.
Wu beat out some 40 contestants to take home the coveted title on Dec 5.
A month later, the 41-year-old, who recently announced her third pregnancy, says she still hasn't landed any lead roles in China.
"To be honest, it was never easy, ” Wu confessed (translation by jaynestars.com) to screenwriter-host Dingding Zhang on his show Bring A Hundred Girls Home, a show which delves into the stories of women living in China.
Surprised, the host gasped and responded, “Even Myolie Wu is saying this!” Myolie then replied: “Of course! Who is Myolie Wu? Saying that I’m Myolie Wu doesn’t mean anything!”
Wu, who shot to fame as an actress on Hong Kong broadcaster TVB in the 2000s, adds she never had a lot of confidence when it came to penetrating into China's entertainment industry.
Over the years, a number of Hong Kong actresses such as Charmaine Sheh and Ada Choi have moved their careers to China with considerable success.
We're sure it's just a matter of time for Wu!
