Seasoned singer Francissca Peter, or known fondly to many as Fran, was honoured with the lifetime achievement award at the Anugerah Bintang Popular ceremony on Nov 13.
The award recognises Fran's more than 40 years worth of contribution to the local showbiz scene.
The Ipoh native took the Malaysian music industry by storm especially during the 1980s and 1990s with her brand of moving love ballads.
One of her most popular works, Sekadar Di Pinggiran, was named Best Song at the prestigious song competition, Anugerah Juara Lagu, in 1986.
Fran, now 59, told Berita Harian after receiving the lifetime achievement honour: "When I was first told that I had been given this honour, I had so many different feelings running through my head. I felt proud, happy, grateful and even nervous. I didn't expect that my talent would still be appreciated after all these years."
"This award is a recognition of all the hard work I've put in all these years. Still, it doesn't change who I am. I'm still the same as I was and I remain humble."
The singer said she has no plans to rest on her laurels and will keep singing. "As long as I'm still needed, I won't stop entertaining fans."
