Malaysian actor Kamarool Yusoff, affectionately known as Cik Man, died on Aug 5 at the age of 68.
News of his passing was shared on Facebook by comedian Mohammad Amirullah Azmi, better known as Amir Raja Lawak, who also extended his condolences to the actor's family.
"Kamarool Haji Yusoff, also known as Farok and Cik Man, has just left us. May Allah grant Abang Kamarool a place among the faithful and the righteous in Jannah, Al-Fatihah," he wrote.
Meanwhile, Kamarool's son, Ahmad Fakhrol Aliff, 23, when contacted, confirmed the news, saying that his father breathed his last at 5.30 pm while receiving treatment for a heart ailment at Tanah Merah Hospital.
Communications Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil has expressed his condolences over the passing of Cik Man.
In a Facebook post, Fahmi said fans of Malay cinema, particularly those who grew up watching films in the 1980s, would fondly remember Kamarool's iconic portrayal of Farouk in the classic film Gila-Gila Remaja, a character that remains etched in the hearts of fans.
"He was a highly respected artiste, not only within the acting fraternity but also among all who cherish the nation's arts and culture.
"Thank you, Farouk/Cik Man, for enriching our arts scene and creating lasting memories for generations. Your service, contributions, and body of work will always be remembered,” he said.
Fahmi also prayed that Allah SWT would forgive the late actor's sins, shower His mercy upon his soul, and place him among the righteous.
Cik Man was best known for his memorable role as Farouk, the leader of the Gagak Hitam gang, in the 1986 Malaysian classic Gila-Gila Remaja.
He also appeared in the 2010 comedy Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah, directed by the late Mamat Khalid, as well as numerous other films. – Bernama
