A time for hush

ICELANDIC composer/performer Olafur Arnalds, who is more aligned to ambient electronica, classical minimalism and soundtrack-based albums, might not be your typical act booked for a gig at The Bee, Publika in Kuala Lumpur. And he isn’t even a one-man Sigur Ros (though he has toured with his more famous countrymen). But the 25-year-old, hailing from a small town outside of Reykjavík, promises an illuminating night of music at The Bee on Sept 12.

In fact, Arnalds begins his short Asian tour in Kuala Lumpur before taking on shows in Taiwan and China. His recent album For Now I Am Winter, released by Decca/Universal here, has served as timely and more widely-received introduction to this young man’s career. He has gained a few more new fans since For Now I Am Winter hit the racks in Malaysia in March.
