VIRTUAL THEATRE: HOW TO BREAK A WINDOW II - TRIPLE BILL

Singapore-based Malaysian poet/writer Melizarani T. Selva’s Kudumban is a family drama about a father and a daughter relationship and the grief and gain of dividing a family and leaving a country behind.
Kudumban is part of a triple bill showcasing new works from Singaporean theatre company T:> Works’ 24-Hour Playwriting competition.
"The Tamil word, kudumbam, can mean family or household. There are two characters - a father and daughter, and they are breaking down a dining table. In the process, you learn about the father and daughter's perspectives of racism in Malaysia and what it means to migrate and leave a country," said Melizarani in a recent interview with The Straits Times in Singapore.
Singaporean lawyer/poet Amanda Chong’s #WomenSupportingWomen and playwright Yin Mei Lenden-Hitchcock’s Green Leaves are the other works featured in this triple bill.

VIRTUAL TALK: PRESERVING OUR CULINARY HERITAGE: HERBAL TEA

Some of us may be unaware of all the tremendous benefits local herbs have to offer or their significance in our lives have been overlooked. Lemongrass and pandan tea for instance, are a soothing concoction of flavours and their aromas have chemical properties that rejuvenate the body and mind. Lemongrass is known for its anti-cancer properties and works as a healing agent.
Local herbs have lent their benefits for generations. They are used in cooking, steeped into teas, and are consumed for medicinal purposes. This live talk, presented by Prof Dr Shahrim Ab Karim, an academic and food heritage expert, and moderated by Delima Mohd Khalid, will further discuss the benefits of other local herbs such as ginger, aloe vera, torch ginger, and butterfly pea flowers, followed by a cooking demonstration of various types of herbal teas during the webinar.

Written by Khairunazwan Rodzy and directed by Shahrul Skye, Asramara follows a group of students who are attending a leadership camp at their own school with the assistance of Cikgu Sabariah and Cikgu Adam. Suhaila and Nabila, two female students, experience sudden hysteria on their final night, and the situation becomes more complicated as incident after incident occurs, involving Cikgu Adam and Cikgu Sabariah as well.

VIRTUAL ROUNDTABLE: MEDIA ART NOW
Date and Time: Feb 19, 6PM
This virtual roundtable discussion brings together three curators Lienne Loy (formerly of the The Godown, Kuala Lumpur), Wanida Razali (Hin Bus Depot, Penang), and Nicholas Stavri (The Factory Project, London) as well as multimedia artist Jun Ong to discuss new media art and the role of adaptive reuse in the production and presentation of public art. Each speaker has had a link to Ong's installation work STAR/ BUTTERWORTH, and its current incarnation as STAR/KL, which is an ongoing site-specific light installation at The Godown in Kuala Lumpur.

Seni Tiga #11: Dulu. Saat Itu. was a breakout virtual multidisciplinary show when it premiered on CloudTheatre in December 2020. The atmospheric show looked at moments in our lives that we visit repeatedly, how those instances resonate in the present, and the way that memory reverberates throughout time.
The show's ambient-meets-Nusantara soundtrack, composed by Iwas, also played a big role in setting the mood. Now, you can stream the soundtrack on various streaming platforms for free.

VIRTUAL THEATRE: GRACELAND FAVORS

This farcical black comedy, written and directed by Scott McQuaid, launches its audience into an absurd story right from the beginning, when a groom discovers that his bride-to-be is in fact, a stranger.
The Elvis officiant is keen to keep the wedding on track despite the unusual circumstances but is met by his rival—the Chinese Elvis impersonator from the chapel across the street who’s looking to steal his clients, and things become even more complicated. Then things go from weird to bizarre when the groom's ex-fiancée and her new bad-boy husband turn up and rob them all.
