CloudTheatre has won the Startup Awards - Media & Entertainment category at the inaugural Singapore-based TechNode Global’s ORIGIN Innovation Awards 2020.

The arts streaming platform, formed by theatre-based duo William Yap, a director/actor, and Dennis Lee, a theatre actor, was one of the five outfits to win the award under this category.

“We feel extremely honoured and humbled to win this award. This is a huge assurance and encouragement for us to keep pushing through and innovating,” says Lee.

The other winners in this category are Hong Kong and Shanghai-based CAPSL, global talent agency Gushcloud International, music cloud infrastructure Music Hotpot and marketing agency Zocial Earn.

The winners were announced today at the ORIGIN conference.

CloudTheatre was founded in May to support stranded theatremakers affected by the pandemic in putting ticketed shows online.

“We certainly hope that one day the platform will grow into an internationally recognised brand and one that will make Malaysians proud,” adds Lee.
