PT Mowilex Indonesia (Mowilex), a paint manufacturer, has released an e-version of its 2019 book, Balinese Woodcarving: A Heritage To Treasure, on its website to mark the recent first anniversary of the book launch.

For wood carving enthusiasts, this book offers illuminating resource material surrounding the lives of Bali’s master woodcarvers and their iconic craft, as well as Balinese culture and art.

It is a journey into the heart of Balinese wood carving traditions, where deep spiritual and cultural values are attached to this craft.

Works by these artisans and craftsmen can be found in galleries and museums all over the world.

“This book was meticulously prepared and researched. But as we published it not to be sold, it is not in wide circulation. We feel now is the time to give it to anyone who has an interest in Balinese culture and art, ” says Anna Wibowo, Mowilex chief marketing officer.

Balinese Woodcarving: A Heritage To Treasure was printed by art book publisher Carlo Cambi Editore in Italy, and edited by art historial, curator and author Cesare Biasini Selvaggi.

It aims to teach, delight and inspire artists, art admirers, collectors, designers and anyone interested in Bali or woodcarving.

The book was launched at the Agung Rai Museum of Art (ARMA) Gallery and Museum in Ubud last year. The hardcover copies were given to artists, galleries, museums and libraries.

Now, it is available to view and download for free here.

“Especially now that many people are isolating all over the world, this is a chance to immerse yourself into something very different. We are happy to offer this book electronically to anyone interested, ” says Wibowo.
