Argentina embassy in M'sia shares National Day video shot at Petronas Twin Towers

In commemoration of the Argentine National Day today (July 9), the Embassy of the Argentine Republic in Malaysia has released a cultural video produced in Kuala Lumpur for the occasion, which can be viewed on its YouTube channel.

The first part of the video pays tribute to Argentine Cesar Pelli, the architect behind the iconic Petronas Twin Towers, who passed away last year at the age of 94.

Pelli has designed some of the world’s iconic buildings, including the World Financial Center in New York City.

In the video, Pelli says, “The Petronas Towers are perhaps the most important and beautiful project I ever designed in my whole life. They represent for me the spirit and the character of malaysia...Whenever I design a tall building, I think of the Petronas Towers, the spirit of the Petronas Towers. It has value that can take your eye, your spirit, to the top and to the sky. ”

In the second part of the video, a group called the Belaria Trio perform Por Una Cabeza, a classic Argentine tango piece by the legendary Carlos Gardel, a prominent composer in the history of tango. The performance is filmed in various locations within the Petronas Towers, including the connecting bridge.

“The Petronas Towers are a pride for both Malaysia and Argentina and stand as a symbol of friendship for both countries. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, there are restrictions to hold massive and face-to-face events almost all around the world. This is why this year we decided to celebrate the Argentine National Day with (this) special video, ” says Manuel Jose Balaguer Salas, ambassador of Argentina to Malaysia.
