Dessert chain blossoms with essence of sakura

Famed for its natural Japanese tea flavours, Matcha Eight is thrilled to present a menu evoking scents of spring blossoms.

Sakura flower fragrance is part of what makes up offerings comprising Sakura Ice Cream, Sakura Ice Cream Mochi and Sakura Fizzy.

“Sakura Ice Cream is a favourite at every Japanese dessert shop in Japan but this might not be noticed by Malaysian consumers,” said Matcha Eight founder Miho Kaneko.

“All three items on our sakura menu are made using all natural ingredients, including sakura petals imported from Kochi, Japan.”

The seasonal Sakura Ice Cream, priced at RM18 a scoop, is made from essence of sakura plum, free from artificial preservatives, additives and colouring.

The Sakura Ice Cream Mochi (RM21.20) is this year’s addition to the seasonal menu.

To ensure its soft and chewy texture when consumed with the ice cream, the mochi is made fresh every morning.

Sakura Fizzy (RM15.90) is another popular sparkling beverage with a taste akin to salted dried plum or asam boi.

The drink made from sakura essence, sakura jam, sparkling water and pickled sakura flower has a savoury flavour.

The Sakura Ice Cream and Sakura Fizzy are available at both Matcha Eight stores, while the Sakura Ice Cream Mochi is available only at the LaLaport BBCC outlet.

All items are available for a limited time only and while stocks last.

Matcha Eight stores are located at L2.73.0, Plaza, The Exchange TRX, and G-68, Ground Floor, LaLaport Bukit Bintang City Centre, in Kuala Lumpur.

They are open daily, from 10am to 10pm.
