But what if you prefer more local flavours? Eastern and Oriental (E&O) Hotel in Penang has you covered with its Sunday Asian Hi-Tea buffet featuring an assortment of popular delicacies.
Your afternoon tea will be accompanied by light bites such as rojak buah, pasembur, sotong kangkung, curry puffs, mini chicken pies, potato and green pea samosas as well as roti bakar with kaya and butter.
Entrees include Wok-fried Radish Cakes in XO Sauce, char kuey teow, mee goreng mamak, Seafood Otak-otak, roti jala with chicken curry, chicken murtabak, roti John and satay.
Nasi lemak with sides of Sambal Prawns and chicken rendang, as well as asam laksa and Penang curry mee are also offered.
Inside traditional steamers, an assortment of dim sum items like barbecue chicken buns and prawn dumplings await.
To satisfy your sweet tooth, desserts such as Chendol Cake, Dulce Cream Brownies, Lychee Flan, Churros with Chocolate, sago gula melaka and Black Rice Pudding are impossible to resist.
The buffet comes with free flow of selected beverages.
The lounge has both indoor and outdoor seating – the latter offering panoramic views of the Andaman Sea, making it a great backdrop for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
Served from 2.30pm to 5pm at the Planters Lounge located on Level Six, the spread is priced at RM99 for adults and RM50 for children and seniors.
