New World Petaling Jaya Hotel has teamed up with YWCA Vocational Training Opportunity Centre (VTOC) to celebrate women’s achievements as well as raise awareness on gender bias and inequality, in conjunction with International Women’s Day.
The YWCA VTOC is a project of the YWCA of Kuala Lumpur.
It was established in 1998 to provide vocational skills training for young women and girls from economically disadvantaged communities, irrespective of ethnicity, religion, social and cultural background.
This month, guests can look forward to the “Ladies Socie-Tea” at New World Petaling Jaya Hotel and enjoy a delectable afternoon tea at its lobby lounge or sky-high lounge, while contributing towards a good cause.
For each set sold, 10% of all proceeds will be channelled towards VTOC to empower women by providing much-needed skills training for underprivileged young women and girls.
The “Ladies Socie-Tea” set features a selection of savoury finger sandwiches, sweet pastries and homemade fruit tarts.
Pastry chef Sukumaran Raganathan eschews the use of any artificial flavourings and instead, taps into all-natural ingredients such as strawberries and raspberries.
The highlight is the one-of-a-kind hand-painted high heel accompanied with fresh strawberries and flowers, in celebration of women.
The savoury selection offers Beef Bresaola and Shaved Parmesan on Toasted Baguette, Avocado Mash and Quail Egg on Brioche, Smoked Salmon and Sambal Cream and Cheese Wraps and Chicken Salad Slider.
Sweet treats include Heart-Shaped Chocolate Strawberry Mousse Cake, Milk Chocolate Ball, Red Velvet Cheesecake, Raspberry Swiss Roll and Strawberry Custard Tarts.
The three-tiered Afternoon Tea Set is priced at RM138nett and served with coffee or tea.
It is available for dine-in or takeaways. Delivery charges apply.
Available daily from 3pm to 6pm, it is served at the hotel’s lobby lounge on Level 2 on weekdays and RC Lounge on Level 29 on weekends.
