Best of Malaysian food to celebrate National Day


Terengganu’s nasi kerabu is included in the Merdeka treat served at The Resort Cafe, Sunway Resort Hotel & Spa.

SUNWAY Resort Hotel & Spa is inviting diners to the perfect gastronomic treat with family and friends this National Day at The Resort Cafe.

This year, the restaurant is highlighting mouth-watering dishes representing all Malaysian states, presented alongside a variety of local and international dishes served in an a la carte buffet-to-you dining experience.

Diners can look forward to dishes such as Pulut Ikan Kering from Perlis, cucur udang from Kedah, nasi kerabu and keropok lekor from Terengganu, ayam percik and kuih akok from Kelantan, Ikan Patin Masak Tempoyak from Pahang, Rendang Tok with Lemang from Perak, a variety of Penang specialities like lobak, popiah, rojak buah and cendol, satay from Selangor, Itik Salai Masak Cili Api and Hakka mee from Negri Sembilan.

For dishes from the south, diners can expect savoury delights of Kapitan Chicken, Nyonya Fish and Nyonya kuih from Melaka as well as otak-otak and fish head curry from Johor.

There is nasi kuning from Sabah and from Sarawak, the kitchen will serve up Kolo Mee and layered cake. A variety of local and international dishes will also tempt tastebuds, including chee cheong fun, Steamed Rice with Salted Fish and Chicken and Bamboo Briyani, teppanyaki and maki rolls, nachos and quesadilla, grilled meats such as satay, churrasco, Turkish kebab and Balinese sate lilit, Fish Head Curry with Paratha, Korean-Style Fried Chicken and Pancake as well as la mian or pasta at the live noodle station.

For dessert, there are ais kacang, cendol, soft serve ice cream and mocktails.

There are also exciting activities lined up for children, including mask painting, drawing activity, cupcake decoration and luau dancing.

The brunch buffet dining experience entails a personalised service, with dedicated service attendants serving each diner directly at their table.

Diners are allowed to view the stations then place their orders with the service attendant and have the dishes delivered to their table or order from the menu.

The Resort Cafe’s Merdeka buffet brunch is available on Aug 30 and 31 as well as Sept 16, from 11am to 3pm.
