Serving up nostalgic Malay dishes from family recipes in PJ

THIS Ramadan, a Petaling Jaya hotel is serving dishes from family recipes lovingly handed down through generations.

The “Sajian Desa Ibunda” Ramadan buffet will be served at M World Hotel’s Indulge Coffee House until March 18.

Paru Berlado Padang is a Minangkabau-inspired dish of sliced beef lung in red sambal with a spritz of lime, Daging Dendeng Minang offers similar notes with thinly sliced beef while Siput Sedut Masak Lemak Cili Api features sea snails in a creamy sauce.

A highlight is a whole roasted Kambing Golek slow-cooked on a rotating spit, basted in its juices for a crispy skin.

Other dishes to look out for include Rendang Tok Perak, Nasi Lemak with Ayam Goreng Berempah, nasi mandy, roti canai, murtabak, satay, ikan bakar, ketupat palas as well as fresh seafood on ice, sushi and sashimi.

The festive spread also highlights Gulai Kawah Daging, Ayam Percik Tanjung Chaq, Udang Galah Masak Lemak Daun Kunyit, Ikan Mayong Masak Asam Pedas Muar, Cucur Udang Kertas with Kuah Kacang Ibunda, Kerabu Taugeh with Kerang and Kerabu Ayam Bakar.

The meal is rounded off with traditional desserts such as Tapai Ubi, Bubur Nangka Sago, apam balik, apam manis as well as an assortment of baklava and cakes.

The hotel’s Ramadan buffet is priced at RM238nett per adult, RM178nett per senior citizen (aged 60 years and above) and RM148nett per child (aged six to 12 years).
