EXPLORE Malaysia’s diverse range of cuisines this Ramadan at the “Selera Serantau” buffet that is being served up at a brand new yet familiar coffeehouse in Petaling Jaya.

The buka puasa promotion at the new Cinnamon Coffee House in One World Hotel will offer Malay, Chinese, Indian and Western fare among others.

One of the signature dishes is Sup Tulang Rawa, featuring flavourful beef bone marrow mixed with a variety of herbs.

Executive chef David Kuan said the bone marrow is cooked for 48 hours in the kawah.

“It is served with softly steamed roti benggali,” he said of the slightly sweet and savoury soup.

At one of the live cooking stations, diners will find a delightful serving of whole roast lamb.

Junior sous chef Muhammad Hishamudin said the lamb was roasted for between one and two hours.

“We marinate the lamb with rosemary, oregano, mint, sage and basil to enhance the taste.

“It is cooked at a high temperature for the first half-an-hour.

“Then we lower the temperature to create the crispy skin.”

The lamb is rich in flavour and goes well with mint sauce.

There are also fruits, bread, salad, assorted cheese and ulam served as appetisers.

Other highlights include dim sum and tandoori chicken as well as the sushi, pizza and pasta sections.

Don’t forget to make room for dessert as there is a variety of luscious cakes, tarts and puddings.

I opted for the lemon tart, served with dark mulberries, strawberries and grapes, topped with cream.

There is also an assortment of Malay kuih and kuih raya.

The “Selera Serantau” buffet is available daily until April 21, from 6.30pm until 10.30pm.

It is priced at RM208 per adult and RM104 per child (aged six to 12).
