To welcome the Year of the Fire Horse, hotel bars are rolling out festive cocktails and mocktails to get the party started.

Expect fiery, adventurous flavours inspired by the horse’s spirited energy and the warmth of the Fire element.

Many mixologists are incorporating festive ingredients like mandarin oranges, tangerines and pineapples, which are typically regarded as auspicious symbols of vitality and forward momentum.

These drinks often feature striking garnishes to toast to a “fast track towards wealth and happiness”.

Whether you prefer a bold, spirit- forward drink or a refreshing botanical mocktail, these bars have a variety of concoctions for varied preferences.

For Chinese New Year, mixologists at Astor Bar have curated a special collection of cocktails.

Start the night with a refreshing Golden Highball, a timeless drink recreated with ingredients signifying wealth and prosperity such as pineapple, lime, asam boi and soda water with a touch of Hennessy VSOP.

With a Chinese twist on a classic Italian aperitivo, the Mandarin Garibaldi features a Mandarin influence.

It is made with herbaceous Campari, Italicus, orange, lime and Mandarin Oleo Saccharum.

Taking inspiration from a classic whisky sour, Imperial Apple is Astor’s Bar’s Chinese New Year celebratory rendition.

It is crafted with Bourbon, apple, lemon, Chinese five-spice, sugar and Vegan Foamer.

The festive cocktails are available until March 3 at RM75nett per cocktail.

To celebrate the Year of the Horse, Blue at EQ has crafted a speciality cocktail for guests to savour during the Lunar New Year.

The softly floral, citrus-forward Imperial Bloom No.5 cocktail is crafted with Moutai Chun 1998, a Chinese Baijiu blend of five grains: sorghum, rice, glutinous rice, wheat and corn.

The liquor’s gentle plum sweetness complements the mix of cherry plum, chrysanthemum, blood orange, mandarin orange and orange bitters, resulting in a bright, smooth and beautifully balanced sip.

Guests can also order enticing selection of flavourful tapas, for sharing and pairing.

Crafted with the local Raksasa Hibiscus Gin, the LaMos Gin Fizz is worth a try.

It is mixed with Tapping Tapir Orange and Vanilla fruit soda, fresh calamansi juice and mandarin orange syrup.

The drink is then topped with Stillabunt Magic Velvet Foamer to add a celebratory sparkle.

It also has a mocktail option.
