Savour special Yuletide delicacies

HAVE a hearty Christmas celebration this year by savouring five holiday dishes specially curated by chefs at Huckleberry.

Creativity has been injected into all corners of the restaurant, with Christmas trees, warm lights and attractive ornaments adding to the ambience as diners tuck into the festive fare.

One of the bestsellers this season is the Christmas Burger made with home-made beef, turkey ham, crispy beef bacon and chestnut patty. It is topped with a generous amount of mango chutney, garlic aioli and fresh romaine lettuce.

The hearty burger offered a nice balance of tastes in each bite.

The soft bun with hints of butter was lovely against the the juicy and tender patty — the makings of a well-cooked burger.

Diners can choose to have the burger with a side of fries or salad and the meal is available only from 11am.

If a burger is too much, then the lighter option is the Turkey Ham and Brie Sandwich.

The sourdough granary bread, which is made fresh in the Huckleberry kitchen, is tasty even on its own.

This sandwich is lathered with home-made fig jam and Dijon mustard on slices of turkey ham and brie cheese.

The sandwich is only available between 11am and 3pm until Dec 28.For sharing, diners can opt for the Turkey Chorizo Pizza served with slow-cooked home-made barbecue sauce infused with cranberry base on the Huckleberry’s sourdough.Generously topped with sliced turkey chorizo, rocket, mozzarella and Parmesan, the pizza is only available from 3pm.

As for the traditional turkey, instead of a whole bird, Huckleberry is presenting a turkey platter comprising roasted turkey breast served with giblet gravy and cranberry sauce.

On the sides are cornbread stuffing, roasted carrots and parsnips, as well as potatoes roasted in duck fat.

The platter is available exclusively at Huckleberry at Bangsar Shopping Centre from Dec 24 to Dec 27 from 11am.

Diners can also try the Black Truffle Fettuccine with truffle oil, parmesan and French butter, or Honey Mint Glazed Rack of Lamb.

These are only available after 6pm and are in the restaurant’s permanent dining menu.

I enjoyed both dishes immensely. The lamb was juicy and tender while the fettuccine was neither too heavy nor creamy.

For dessert, try Huckleberry’s Panettone French Toast served with cranberry compote, pistachio crumble, lemon mascarpone, ginger and cinnamon infused maple syrup.

Available only between 7.30am and 3pm, the dish was special indeed as it was given a twist from the traditional panettone and presented as French toast.

The panettone dotted with candied fruits was light and fluffy and delightful when dipped in egg and pan-fried.

Huckleberry’s dishes with citrusy and fruity flavours exude Christmas nostalgia.

Wash it all down with a cup of Gingerbread Latte, which is sweet and spicy infused with ground nutmeg for that festive feel.

Alternatively, one can enjoy classic eggnog filled with cream, sugar, eggs, spices and whipped cream.

It comes with and without alcohol, and diners can also take away eggnog in a bottle.

In the ho-ho-ho spirit, Huckleberry has whipped up two festive cocktails called Third Time’s the Cham and Naughty or Spice.

The first cocktail takes on the local kopi cham and is served with the Chairman’s Reserve Spiced Rum infused with Sweet Raisins, cardamom bitters, Angostura bitters and toasted macadamia syrup with a cute mini gingerbread man to top it off.

The second cocktail is made with Calvados Christian Drouin, home-made holiday crumble syrup, chocolate bitters, lemon juice, egg white and cinnamon.
