INTRODUCING new dishes to the menu is one way of leaving diners with pleasant memories before ending the year.

Dine Coffee House in Hotel Sri Petaling is closing the year with a bang by unveiling 10 new signature dishes in its a la carte menu.

Executive sous chef Ahmad Nizam Saidin said the menu offered Western food with local touch and Asian dishes, both of which are popular among diners.

The first dish served was the Chilli Padi Chicken Chop (RM18 nett), which Ahmad Nizam said was a savoury and spicy offering compared to other chicken chop versions.Ahmad Nizam presenting the 10 new signature dishes from the restaurant’s a la carte menu. — Photos: AZHAR MAHFOF/The StarAhmad Nizam presenting the 10 new signature dishes from the restaurant’s a la carte menu. — Photos: AZHAR MAHFOF/The Star

“We have customers who yearn for a spicy kick to their meal. So the sauce in this dish is made from a mixture of chicken jus, cream sauce, garlic and bird’s eye chilli,” he said, adding that the sauce was mildly spicy.

The Clear Oxtail Soup (RM20 nett) was unassuming in appearance. But it took me by surprise with its flavourful taste with the use of vegetables and hints of herbs in its making.

“Oxtail is known to be tough meat. We need at least two hours to boil the meat until it is tender, ” said Ahmad Zaidin, adding that his version of oxtail soup required a lot of coriander.

Next was the Beef Ginger (RM15 nett), served on a hot plate and accompanied with rice.

The sauteed beef cooked with ginger, spring onion and capsicum made for a filling meal.

The Beef Stroganoff (RM22 nett) comes in a large portion that can easily be shared by two persons. The dish features beef tenderloin on fettuccine topped with creamy mushroom gravy.Bread and Butter Pudding, ready to be drenched with vanilla custard cream.Bread and Butter Pudding, ready to be drenched with vanilla custard cream.

The Baked Salmon (RM38 nett) is a must-try for those who love salmon.

Prepared medium well and complemented with lemon cream sauce, mashed potatoes and vegetables, it was indeed a wholesome combination.

“The salmon is grilled and baked in under 10 minutes, to ensure the fish remains moist, ” said Ahmad Nizam.

The Grilled New Zealand Lamb Chop (RM40 nett) is best enjoyed using your hand instead of cutlery as it allows the diner to better savour the tender and appetising meat.

Finish the meal with Bread and Butter Pudding (RM5 nett) which comes with vanilla sauce.

“We bake the bread in the morning as part of the breakfast options for diners, then use the leftovers to make the dessert, ” he said.

Also available as part of the new menu are Caesar Salad with Smoked Salmon (RM15 nett), Grilled Sirloin Steak (RM35 nett) made of meltique beef and Sri Petaling Fried Rice (RM20 nett).
