Summit to reinforce ‘Asean centrality’

AT next week’s Asean Economic Ministers Meeting, which spans the entire week and includes various other meetings, discussions will focus on organising the next Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) leaders summit.

This summit has not been held since 2019 although there was a virtual summit in November 2020 alongside the Asean summit to formalise the world’s largest free trade agreement (FTA). No in-person summit has taken place since then.
