FBM KLCI falls as foreign selling continues

KUALA LUMPUR: The FBM KLCI fell on Monday amid persistent foreign selling and continued global uncertainties.

According to Apex Securities, investors will continue to assess Malaysia’s economic outlook following 3Q26 GDP growth of 5.3%, while monitoring the potential impact of rising operating costs on corporate earnings, particularly among labour-intensive businesses.

"The recent selloff in US technology and AI-related stocks, coupled with elevated oil prices and inflationary pressures, could further dampen risk appetite ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision on 29 October (Malaysia time)," it said.

On outlook, it expects sustained market recovery to depend on improved foreign fund flows and greater stability in global markets.

At 9.05am, the key index was down 5.03 points to 1,602.73.

MISC fell 20 sen to RM8.56, PETRONAS Chemicals dropped nine sen to RM4.41 and Public Bank shed 11 sen to RM4.72.
