PETALING JAYA: Ancom Nylex Bhd
’s net profit rose 15.2% year-on-year (y-o-y) to RM23.1mil in the first quarter of its financial year ending May 31, 2027 (1QFY27), from RM20.1mil a year earlier.
Revenue increased 19.2% y-o-y to RM533.4mil from RM447.4mil, driven mainly by its industrial chemicals segment, which benefited from higher selling prices amid firmer crude oil prices.
Managing director and group chief executive officer Datuk Lee Cheun Wei said the group recorded its highest-ever first quarter net profit, providing a solid foundation for FY27.
In its agricultural chemicals segment, sales volumes continued to grow across key export markets, although the stronger ringgit against the US dollar dampened the translated value of export sales.
Lee said demand remained healthy, particularly in Brazil, where orders for its MSMA (monosodium methanearsonate) product for soybean applications have been encouraging following an extension of its product label to cover the crop.
The group expects this market to contribute increasingly to growth, supported by available production capacity.
However, Lee said geopolitical and shipping risks, including disruptions to the Strait of Hormuz, continued to drive energy prices higher and weigh on global economic sentiment.
“We will continue to monitor these developments closely while pursuing the growth opportunities ahead, and we approach the remainder of FY27 with measured confidence,” he added.
