Turiya appoints Nor Shahmir as managing director

KUALA LUMPUR: Turiya Bhd has appointed Nor Shahmir Nor Shahid as managing director, effective Oct 15, as part of efforts to strengthen its executive leadership.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, the company said Nor Shahmir, 55, has more than 30 years of experience in investment banking, corporate restructuring, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance.

He holds a Bachelor of Accounting from the International Islamic University Malaysia and has been a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since April 2018.

Nor Shahmir, who also serves as a director of Aurelius Technologies Bhd, will oversee the implementation of board-approved strategies, financial and operational performance, capital allocation and funding initiatives.

Turiya said the appointment was initially structured as a non-board position, with the possibility of Nor Shahmir joining the board in the future, subject to the relevant approval processes.

Separately, the group announced the redesignation of Shweta Nandy, 32, from executive director to non-independent non-executive director, effective Oct 15.

Shweta, who joined Turiya's board in August 2024, will progressively relinquish her day-to-day executive responsibilities following the appointment of the managing director.

She will continue serving on the boards of Turiya's Singapore-incorporated subsidiaries, Pyramid Manufacturing Industries Pte Ltd and Iconic Global Ltd.
