IJM appoints Datuk Johan Idris as chairman

PETALING JAYA: IJM Corp Bhd has appointed Datuk Johan Idris as its new independent non-executive director and chairman of the board.

The appointment comes as part of the group’s planned leadership transition.

This follows the retirement of former chairman Tan Sri Krishnan Tan at IJM’s AGM on Aug 27 this year.

Datuk Lee Teck Yuen, who temporarily assumed the chairmanship during the search process, has been redesignated as non-independent non-executive director and will remain on the board.

Johan brings more than 34 years of experience in finance, audit, and strategic advisory.

He served as managing partner and country senior partner of KPMG Malaysia from 2014 to 2024 and was president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants from 2013 to 2015.

He currently holds chairmanships at Maxis Bhd and KPMG Malaysia.

He also holds directorships at KLCC Property Holdings Bhd and KLCC Real Estate Investment Trust.

“I am honoured to join the board of IJM and take on the role of chairman,” Johan said.

He also said that he is commited to upholding strong governance as the group executes its strategic priorities and delivers long-term value.

Welcoming the appointment, IJM group chief executive officer and managing director Datuk Lee Chun Fai expressed confidence in Johan’s extensive corporate background.
