Setel rolls out voice-activated fuelling in four languages

KUALA LUMPUR: Setel has introduced a voice-activated fuelling feature that allows users to activate fuel pumps using commands in English, Bahasa Melayu, Mandarin or Tamil.

The homegrown mobility app said Voice Fuelling, currently in beta, builds on its existing One-tap Fuelling feature and is aimed at motorists, motorcyclists, fleet operators and e-hailing drivers.

Once the feature is enabled in the Setel app, users can state their pump number to activate fuelling, with the system processing the transaction based on their preferred payment method and fuelling settings.

Setel said PETRONAS dealers and ground crew would assist customers in setting up and using the feature.

Setel chief executive officer Abdullah Ayman Awaluddin said the feature was developed to simplify the fuelling process and make it more accessible to users who prefer voice commands.

“Being able to speak in the language you are most comfortable with is a small but meaningful part of that, because technology feels more natural when you can simply use it in your own words.

“We hope Malaysians will give Voice Fuelling a try and experience the difference for themselves. For us, that is what #SetelUntukMalaysia means, using technology thoughtfully to solve everyday needs and make each journey a little easier,” he said.

Setel is also offering new users five times Mesra Rewards points, capped at 500 points, after they download the app, register and verify their account, and purchase at least one litre of fuel.

The offer, which is not limited to Voice Fuelling transactions, applies to RON95, RON97 and diesel, including BUDI95 and BUDI Diesel.

Setel said existing users could also access its Setel Savers and Refer a Friend programmes, while its Full Thank campaign would continue until the end of the year.
