IOI Properties Group Bhd group chief executive Datuk Lee Yeow Seng.

PETALING JAYA: Marriott International Inc and IOI Properties Group Bhd (IOIPG) have inked a strategic agreement to develop four new hotels across Malaysia, adding 888 rooms to Marriott’s local luxury and select-service portfolios.

The developments include The Ritz-Carlton, Putrajaya; W Langkawi; Aloft by Marriott Sepang; and Aloft by Marriott Johor Baru Plentong.

The expansion further strengthens the long-standing collaboration between the two property and hospitality giants.

Marriott International president for Asia Pacific excluding China, Rajeev Menon, highlighted Malaysia as a key growth market for the brand.

“Our long-standing relationship with IOIPG has enabled us to expand our portfolio across a diverse range of brands and destinations,” Menon said.

“These projects reflect our shared confidence in the long-term growth of Malaysia’s hospitality sector and our commitment to working with trusted owners to bring the right brands and experiences to destinations with strong growth potential.”

Furthermore, IOIPG group chief executive officer Datuk Lee Yeow Seng said the partnership aligns with the group’s vision of building integrated developments that generate socio-economic value for local communities.

“The signing of the four hotels cements our position as a significant hospitality owner, bringing the total number of hotels owned by the group and managed by Marriott to 15,” Lee said.
