KUALA LUMPUR: Hong Leong Islamic Bank Bhd (HLB Islamic) said 43% of customers who opened its HLB Meezani Account-i in its first year were new to the bank.

Chief executive officer Dafinah Ahmed Hilmi said wealth management has been identified as a key growth area under Hong Leong Bank’s three-to-five-year transformation plan.

The HLB Meezani Account-i is a Shariah-compliant daily investment account with a minimum investment of RM100.

Dafinah said the bank aims to encourage more Malaysians to save and invest as part of their longer-term wealth-building plans.

“Shariah banking is truly for everyone. At its heart, it is about ethical banking, built on fairness and transparency, with a focus on putting money to work in ways that benefit communities sustainably,” Dafinah said in a statement.

“As we look ahead, we want to continue encouraging more Malaysians to embrace saving and investing as part of their wealth-building journey, and to do so with greater purpose and confidence.”

The account forms part of Hayat @ HLB Islamic, its wealth management proposition covering wealth creation and accumulation, protection, purification and distribution.

HLB Islamic marked the account’s first anniversary with its annual rewards ceremony and said it would continue its rewards programme in 2027.

The programme offers prizes through daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual draws, with customers receiving additional entries for transactions such as QR payments, bill payments and regular investments.
