KUALA LUMPUR: MBSB Bank Bhd has provided RM29.6 million in financing facilities to Sabah-based contractor Bisajuta Sdn Bhd to support four public infrastructure projects.

MBSB Bhd group chief executive officer Rafe Haneef said that the RM29.6 million financing facilities are to support the implementation of bridge, irrigation, and flood mitigation projects in Sabah.

"These initiatives will benefit communities in Penampang, Kota Belud, Inanam, Beaufort, and Tenom.

"By strengthening connectivity, improving water management and supporting economic activity, the transaction reflects the bank’s commitment towards Sabah's long-term development,” he said in a statement today.

MBSB Bank said one of the projects financed is the upgrading of Jambatan Sungai Moyog in Penampang, which has been completed.

The project involved constructing a new 90-metre steel girder bridge that connects Stesen Perikanan Babagon, Kampung Timpango, and Kampung Lotong, replacing the old river crossing.

The upgraded bridge improves access for the surrounding communities and enhances the transportation of agricultural products, fishery supplies, and other essential goods that support local economic activities.

MBSB Bank said the project also supports the continued development of the Babagon Fisheries Station and forms part of wider infrastructure improvements within the Sungai Moyog river basin.

The financing facilities also support the upgrading and improvement of the Tempasuk South Irrigation Scheme in Kota Belud, flood mitigation works under the Rancangan Tebatan Banjir Sungai Padas programme, and the upgrading of Jambatan Dasar along Jalan Kiansom Lama in Inanam.

Bisajuta, incorporated in 2001, has more than 23 years of experience in the construction sector and has undertaken government projects involving transportation, water infrastructure and public works in Sabah. - Bernama
