KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) is actively advancing key strategic projects to build capacity and accelerate commercial expansion.

This includes ongoing investments in fleet modernisation, network growth and expanded infrastructure, such as the development of the new in-flight catering facility, it said.

In a statement today, the aviation organisation said that to fund these initiatives sustainably, the group continuously evaluates diverse, proactive capital options, including the proposed sukuk programme, aligned with its long-term financial roadmap.

MAG president and group chief executive officer Captain Nasaruddin A Bakar said the group’s trajectory under long-term business plan 3.0 (LTBP3.0) is guided by sound financial planning, operational rigour and clear commercial priorities.

He said the recent credit rating assignment by MARC Ratings, based on assessments of the group's proposed Islamic commercial papers and Islamic medium-term notes programmes (sukuk programme), has supported its strategic direction as MAG plans beyond 2030.

"We remain focused on pursuing growth in a measured way, including enhancing our network and in-flight services and scaling our technical maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities.

"These investments also contribute to Malaysia's ambition to become a leading regional aerospace hub, and support the development of the national aviation ecosystem,” he said.

He added that MAG will continue to maintain strict fiscal governance and appropriate market disclosures as it executes its growth roadmap.

Meanwhile, the aviation organisation said the recent assessment by MARC Ratings reflected the group’s consistent operational performance, financial discipline and continued strategic execution under LTBP3.0, alongside MAG’s inaugural credit rating by the agency, which achieved its highest possible rating.

"This assessment reinforces MAG’s strategic position as the parent of national carrier Malaysia Airlines Bhd and Malaysia’s premier integrated aviation services provider.

"It underscores confidence in the group’s long-term trajectory, backed by strong strategic alignment with MAG’s majority shareholder, Khazanah Nasional Bhd,” it said. - Bernama
