KUALA LUMPUR: Affin Hwang Investment Bank Bhd hopes Budget 2027 will introduce measures that are conducive to foreign direct investment (FDI) and facilitate more foreign capital inflows into Malaysia.

Its chief executive officer Hanif Ghulam Mohammed noted that Malaysia is highly dependent on trade flows, making it important for the government to create a more investor-friendly environment for foreign investors.

“From an investment bank perspective, we would like to see the budget being friendly towards FDI.

“We depend a lot on the circulation of trade, and we hope the initiatives or the budget are geared towards accepting a lot more FDI flows and making it easier for foreign investors to come into Malaysia,” he told reporters after the launch of the Eurex Futures yesterday.

Budget 2027 will be tabled by Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Oct 9, 2026. — Bernama
