PDC, Aspen formally close BKIP2 RFP matter

GEORGE TOWN: Penang Development Corporation (PDC) and Aspen (Group) Holdings Ltd have agreed that all matters relating to the Batu Kawan Industrial Park 2 (BKIP2) request for proposal (RFP) exercise are formally closed.

In a joint statement today, the parties said the matter was resolved following a meeting to discuss all outstanding issues arising from the BKIP2 RFP process, adding that no further public statements would be made.

PDC said that, as the evaluating authority, it had exercised its full discretion and prerogative in assessing all proposals submitted under the RFP process. Aspen acknowledged and respected PDC's authority and did not challenge the outcome.

Both parties also said their earlier public statements were made in good faith based on their respective understanding of the proposal and evaluation process at the time.

On the issue of bridge construction and Aspen's request for a first right of refusal over approximately 580 acres of adjacent PDC land, PDC said the parties had since met to discuss the matter directly and had agreed to consider it closed. - Bernama
