SHAH ALAM: Glove manufacturer Top Glove Corporation Bhd
remains optimistic despite the volatility in raw material costs amid uncertainties over the West Asia conflicts.
Executive chairman Tan Sri Lim Wee Chai said raw material costs, which are expected to double from their original levels, will be offset by smart, efficient measures to navigate the situation.
"We cannot control the external factors, but internally, we must be quality and cost-efficient. So, we work for our customers. If we buy expensively, we have to buy smartly, produce smartly and sell smartly.
"Although we have this problem, the business still has to go on. Although there are some disturbances, we always stay calm and do our best,” he said to reporters after the Mock Cheque Presentation Ceremony to Sekolah Menengah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina Chan Hwa, here today.
As for the conflict’s impact on this year’s revenue, Lim said it might be a slight impact, but he reiterated the company’s commitment to managing the situation effectively.
He noted that the company has implemented price increases for its products to address rising raw material costs.
At 5 pm, the company’s shares rose six sen to close at 69 sen, with 128.12 million shares changing hands. - Bernama
