Oppstar unit to collaborate on development of AI chip solution


KUALA LUMPUR: Oppstar Bhd via its wholly-owned subsidiary Oppstar Microelectronics Sdn Bhd has entered into a statement of work with a technology company based in Yokohama, Japan and Silicon X Sdn Bhd.

It said in a stock exchange filing the parties will collaborate on the design and development of a

reconfigurable AI chip solution. 

The client based in Yokohama is a technology venture specialising in edge AI solutions.

"The project utilises a silicon-proven architecture from Silicon X

combined with advanced design methodologies from Oppstar and its subsidiaries to achieve optimised power and performance," it said.

The client shall pay to Oppstar Microelectronics a total design service fee of US$2.9mil, based on a the milestone completion model stated in the statement of work, which will be fulfilled within 20 months.
