REIT tax incentive removal a dent on the asset class


THE decision by the taxman to remove tax incentives on real estate investment trusts (REITs) has dented the attractiveness of this investment asset class.

This week, a government notice indicated that Malaysia has stopped giving preferential rates for the withholding tax on dividends from REITs.
