CS Genesis and CS Triumph
KUALA LUMPUR: OMS Group has commenced the hull assembly - a key phase in ship construction - for the first two vessels under its strategic fleet expansion programme.
In a statement, the provider of subsea digital infrastructure solutions said it had held the keel-laying ceremony for the state-of-the-art cable-laying vessels CS Genesis and CS Triumph at the Pacific Shipbuilding JSC shipyard in Haiphong, Vietnam.
“This moment symbolises progress — the physical rise of our future fleet,” said Datuk Lim Soon Foo, founder and chairman of OMS Group.
“CS Genesis and CS Triumph represent our commitment to innovation, operational independence, and global resilience in subsea connectivity. As subsea cables continue to carry over 95% of the world’s data, these vessels will be critical to strengthening the backbone of international digital infrastructure.”
According to the statement, each vessel is engineered to support increasingly complex subsea projects. They each feature 6,500 tonne cable tank capacity and plough capability of up to 3.3m burial depth.
They also feature energy storge systems, which optimise energy use through advanced storage solutions, and advanced automation and digital monitoring.
Additionally the vessels have an optimised hull design for superior fuel efficiency and reduced emissions.
"These vessels will allow us to better serve hyperscalers, carriers, and governments as digital infrastructure demand continues to surge. We are not just building ships — we are building the future of connectivity," said OMS group CEO Ronnie Lim.
The G-Class fleet reflects OMS Group’s strategic direction — expanding vertically into infrastructure ownership while growing its capabilities in marine installation, repair, cable landing stations, and terrestrial backhaul networks.
