PETALING JAYA: Proton Holdings Bhd recorded strong November sales of 13,451 units (domestic and export), driven by heightened public attention following the recent launches of the Proton e.MAS 5 and the all-new Proton Saga.
In a statement, the carmaker said this brings year-to-date (YTD) sales to 143,322 units, 3.6% higher than the same period in 2024. The performance places the company on track to close the year with positive sales growth.
It noted that its result contrasts with Malaysia’s total industry volume (TIV), which is estimated to be down 0.9% year-on-year.
“Based on current estimates, Proton is expected to secure an 18.4% market share for November, with a YTD share of 19.7%, reinforcing its position as the second most popular brand in a highly competitive market,” Proton said.
The Proton Saga remained the company’s main volume driver, contributing 6,931 units in November and bringing its YTD total to 66,038 units.
Deliveries continue steadily during the transition to the all-new model as production at the Tanjong Malim plant increases to meet demand.
Bookings for the new Saga have surpassed 30,000 units, with volumes continuing to rise, positioning the model for stronger market presence in 2026.
The Proton X50 recorded 2,127 units in November, bringing its YTD total to 25,974 units, 23.5% higher than the same period in 2024.
The Proton S70 registered 1,487 units, raising its YTD figure to 15,828 units.
Other ICE models also contributed to monthly volumes. The Proton Persona posted 1,050 units in November for a year-to-date total of 14,214 units, while the Proton X70 added 471 units, bringing its tally to 7,184 units.
The Proton X90 recorded 234 units, lifting its year-to-date figure to 2,357 units, and the Proton Iriz registered 241 units for a total of 3,208 units.
The e.MAS 7 led the group’s EV range with 830 units in November, bringing its year-to-date total to 7,784 units and keeping it as Malaysia’s best-selling EV.
“Proton’s recent launches of the e.MAS 5 and all-new Saga have put us in a strong position to carry forward our sales momentum in 2026. We also offered visitors to the recent Proton Tech Showcase event a sneak peek of our upcoming PHEV model, to reinforce the high technology image of the model range while keeping customer interest high.
“These events along with other efforts earlier in the year has led to our sales improvement in 2025 as we work towards making an even bigger volume jump next year,” Proton vice president sales & marketing Zhang Qiang said.
Proton recorded 460 export units in November, bringing YTD exports to 5,014 units. This is 37.3% higher than the same period in 2024 and marks the highest volume since 2022. The company’s 2025 export target of 6,000 units is now within range.
