KUALA LUMPUR: MISC Bhd
announced the naming of two new-generation liquefied natural gas (LNG) carriers, Seri Dian and Seri Dayang, further strengthening its long-standing partnership with Seariver Maritime LLC (SRM), a wholly-owned subsidiary of ExxonMobil.
The group said that with the addition of the two vessels, MISC now has four LNG carriers under long-term charter with SRM, reflecting continued confidence in MISC's ability to deliver safe, reliable and efficient operations.
"Built by Hanwha Ocean Co Ltd, these LNG carriers, with a capacity of 174,000 cubic metres each, are equipped with smart and energy-efficient technology, including the Intelligent Control by Exhaust Recycling (ICER) system.
"The vessels are also equipped with an enhanced cargo retention system featuring a low boil-off rate to improve efficiency and support safer operations,” it said in a statement today.
Its president and chief executive officer, Zahid Osman, said the naming of both vessels marks an important step in realising the group’s Delivering Progress strategy, driven by disciplined growth and operational excellence in delivering energy safely, reliably and efficiently.
"Our collaboration with SRM, built on trust and strong performance, demonstrates how a purposeful partnership enables us to turn shared aspirations into meaningful action.
"The smooth management of this project contributed to the achievement of two million cumulative work hours without injury as of March 30, 2026, with zero lost-time injuries, and demonstrated that when people are prioritised, performance will follow,” he said.
At present, MISC’s LNG fleet consists of 32 vessels, reinforcing its position as one of the world's leading owners and operators of LNG carriers, recognised for its high safety standards, operational excellence and reliable cargo delivery.
MISC, a company under the Petronas Group, has more than 55 years of experience in the global maritime industry, providing various solutions across the maritime-related energy value chain with an extensive international operational footprint. - Bernama
