KUALA LUMPUR: Yayasan Peneraju (YP), an agency under the Ministry of Economy, has expanded its professional accounting training network with the appointment of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA) & Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) Malaysia as its approved learning and training institution (ALTI), effective September 2025.
In a statement, YP said the move formalises a new chapter in YP’s long-running partnership with CIMA, which, together with the AICPA forms the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
YP said the partnership strengthens its efforts to widen access to globally recognised professional accounting qualifications under its new financing scheme.
To date, more than 9,000 Bumiputera talents have benefitted from YP’s professional accounting programmes nationwide.
“YP’s new financing scheme empowers Bumiputera talents to take greater ownership of their professional growth. By shifting towards a loan-based structure, scholars now have the flexibility to choose their preferred learning providers or ALTIs.
“In 2026, we aim to train 2,000 Chartered Accountants as part of our broader ambition to produce 5,000 Chartered Accountants annually by 2030. With CIMA onboard as YP’s ALTI, we are confident that this partnership will help us realise that ambition and nurture Bumiputera professionals who can compete and lead on a global stage,” YP chief executive office Ibrahim Sani said.
Most of CIMA’s professional programmes are now eligible under the Yayasan Peneraju Financing Scheme. They include the CGMA® Finance Leadership Programme (FLP) Skills Plus and Skills Core, the CFO Programme, the Senior Executive Programme (SEP) and the CIMA–MIA Senior Leaders Programme. These programmes form part of the pathways leading to the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) qualification.
Bumiputera applicants interested in enrolling in CIMA programmes under the Yayasan Peneraju Financing Scheme may apply through CIMA Malaysia’s portal or visit Yayasan Peneraju’s website for details on available financing.
The scheme is open to professionals seeking career advancement, working adults aiming to upskill or reskill, and university students pursuing business and finance pathways.
