Maybank Asset Management launches global private credit fund for HNW investors

KUALA LUMPUR: Maybank Asset Management Sdn Bhd (MAM) has launched the MAMG Global Private Credit Fund, a feeder fund aimed at providing long-term capital appreciation and income through investments in the LGT Global Private Credit S.A., SICAV-RAIF.

In a statement, MAM said the fund is offered through a strategic partnership with LGT Capital Partners, a Switzerland-based alternative investment specialist, and marks MAM’s expansion of its private-markets offerings for high-net-worth (HNW) investors in Malaysia.

MAM said the launch also makes it the exclusive third-party entity to offer the strategy to individual investors in Malaysia.

MAM chief executive officer Hisham Hamzah said the launch reflects the company’s long-term approach in growing its private markets capabilities.

“For us, this is more than a new fund launch. At MAM, we have been deliberate in how we expand our private markets capabilities, and every step has been taken with a clear view of where we want to be over the next decade.

“Partnering with LGT Capital Partners to bring an established quality private credit strategy to Malaysian HNW investors is precisely the kind of move that defines that journey. We are building something that lasts,” he said.

The target fund is backed by the LGT Endowment, the firm’s principal investment portfolio launched in 1998, which MAM said reflects the strategy’s long-term investment approach.

LGT Capital Partners partner and executive committee member Daniel Rauti said private credit is increasingly seen as a complement to traditional fixed income investments.

“We are pleased to partner with Maybank, the largest bank in Malaysia, to make this strategy available through its wealth management platform.

“In the current environment, we see private credit as an important complement to traditional fixed income, potentially offering an additional source of income and diversification,” he said.

The fund is targeted at sophisticated investors with a long-term investment horizon and who are prepared for risks associated with private credit, including illiquidity and credit risks.

The fund’s base currency is denominated in ringgit and is available in multiple share classes, including MYR, MYR (Hedged), USD, AUD (Hedged), and SGD (Hedged).

Minimum initial investments are set at RM50,000, US$50,000, A$50,000, and S$50,000 respectively. The MAMG Global Private Credit Fund is available exclusively to Maybank customers through Maybank Private Banking and Maybank Wealth Management channels.
