MRCB shares up on EPF deal, data centre plan


KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysian Resources Corporation Bhd (MRCB) shares rose in morning trade today after it announced the acquisition of the Employees Provident Fund’s (EPF) 80 per cent stake in Bukit Jalil Sentral Property Sdn Bhd (BJSP).

The RM1.58 billion cash deal boosted sentiment on the stock.

MRCB said in a statement on Monday that the company would conduct feasibility and environmental studies before proceeding with any potential development, including a data centre, on the land.

The purchase was made through its indirect subsidiary, Rukun Juang Sdn Bhd, from Tanjung Wibawa Sdn Bhd.

Rukun Juang is wholly owned by MRCB Land Sdn Bhd, while Tanjung Wibawa is fully owned by the EPF Board.

At 10.45 am, MRCB rose 3.5 sen to 50.5 sen, with 14.77 million shares traded. - Bernama
